Meanderings
Well, I think my head is slowly returning to shape after a heavy mental and emotional bludgeoning a few months ago. New glasses always help. Apparently, after seeing a podiatrist, I have severely fallen arches. In any event, the gooey plaster casting for the orthotic felt really nice and I can hardly wait to get my new custom made insoles.

I should be picking up a new dog soon too. He's not ready yet, but once the pup is old enough, he'll be coming home.

I also started writing again today. I think I found the last piece of the puzzle to make a character that's been haunting me for years. With any luck, I can get something done before starting out on the long holiday.

As for the anthology, I haven't gotten any submissions, so I'm going to take the self-publishing route and maybe add a second story with some of the same characters. I guess we'll see how it works out.

Dog names? I'm taking suggestions. Nothing has struck me quite right thus far. He's an Airedale Terrier and will probably end up being roughly 60 pounds of solid cuddly muscle. If he takes his father's temperament (which is probable), he'll end up being very protective, somewhat empathic and highly energetic and playful. Unlike most dogs, they are also very independently minded. Just because they understand a command doesn't mean they'll obey. This is a dog that expects to be consulted.

I had a very similar dog as a child and he was amazing with me. I figure the kids could benefit immensely. They tolerate rough play very well and pretty much never react violently. Of course, if a real fight starts, these dogs finish it.

They don't have the aggression of a pitbull, but they are much stronger, faster and smarter. In a way, they are noble clowns.

Right now, we've got Mutz and Rufus. My wife suggested Grendel, but that seemed wrong. I just thought of Odie, as short for Odysseus, but that would just make people think of Garfield.

As for the sneekypeeky.... well.... I dunno....

Odysseus? That is so awesome, I had to take a moment ;)

If it's one of these dogs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airedale_terrier), I don't know...I'd probably go more British than Greek.
